Take a Walking Tour of San Diego’s North Park Neighborhood - See Street Art and More!

Explore North Park, which Forbes referred to as one of "America's Best Hipster Neighborhoods." It's one of San Diego's most walkable neighborhoods with microbreweries, art galleries, coffee shops, and street art dotting every corner.

Open the app, tap on Walks, then tap Best of North Park Walking Tour.

The tour starts in front of Union Bank at the corner of University Ave and 30th Street. Once you begin the tour and start walking, content will automatically play as you approach each stop. Or, if you feel like exploring from the comfort of home, you can experience it virtually by manually playing the audio from each stop on the tour!

This walking tour will have you exploring North Park like a local, guiding you to some of the best bites, businesses, and San Diego Street Art. You will be taken to the neighborhood's best tacos, craft brewery, coffee, and more. Unique businesses will also be featured, including an eccentric bookstore filled to the brim with rare and gently-used books that will transport you through time.

Below is an excerpt from the beginning of the tour:

The Observatory North Park has a long history, first opening in 1929 as the neighborhood movie theatre.

60 years later, it underwent renovations, converting it to a theatrical production venue, and hosting concerts and symphonies.

Then in 2015, the owners of the Orange County Venue, "The Observatory," took it over.

The theatre was stripped of its theatre seating and embraced an open floor format to accommodate live music events. Since then, it's been under constant rotation with various rock, indie, and pop shows.

The venue has seen iconic performances from artists like Tame Impala, Leon Bridges, and Travis Scott.

If you're interested in seeing a show here, a schedule link can be found here.

Another top-tier coffee shop in North Park, Holsem Coffee made waves when its flagship shop opened in the neighborhood.

Co-founder Salpi Sleiman tested the San Diego waters by first introducing her drinks through her coffee carts in North Park.

It didn't take long for the community to latch onto her creative and high-quality coffee concoctions. In 2015, Holsem Coffee was born.

They offer a variety of cocktail-style drinks with housemade syrups and nut milks.

Locally roasted in small batches, Holsem Coffee creates an experience unlike most other coffee shops. Be sure to try one of their uniquely crafted coffee drinks!
